Drip irrigation system is very effective to save water and time. It's more needed when you are an urban gardener. I was trying many methods when I decided to grow 70+ hibiscus plants in my garden. So, let me show you the simple and non expensive method of drip irrigation for small garden.
Now I fill this drum twice a week and I can see the soil is always wet for the plants.
Required materials:
- 40-50 Liter can/drum
- Aquarium hose
- T- Joints for hose
- Ear buds
- Controller (optional)
- Glue (Possibility Glue gun)
Make a hole in the bottom of the drum approximately to the size of the hose. I made the hole using a hot needle. if you have a driller, you can use that too.
Insert the hose in the hole, and glue it as if it is tight and no leak can happen.
Now cut the hose where you want the water for the first plant in a row, insert a T joint.
Cut a small hose of about 3-4 inches for the outlet and insert Ear but in it. Make sure the ear bud is tightly placed inside. This will avoid the mud and dust entering the tube and prevent blockage and also good for dripping...
Earlier I need to water every two days, but the soil will be dry the next day after watering.
Now, using this method, I fill this drum twice a week and I can see the soil is always wet for the plants.
